The Fundamental Nature of Being is the Shaolin Afronauts first new music release since 2014. Presented in five parts the music expands the sonic vision of the ensemble to towering new heights of burning afro-funk alongside esoteric and ethereal new sonic excursions.

It is a dynamic and engaging experience for both old and new listeners. The five parts constitute both a study and a guided journey between three sonic extremes.

As the music casts new light on the Shaolin Afronauts the design of this release was an opportunity to highlight the transformation through a new visual language.

This concept focuses on the startling and diverse possibilities for beauty in a single natural landscape. It brings a minimal and abstract, but deeply significant and thoughtful aesthetic to the design creating an emotional and intellectual context for the music’s transformation.
