City-Bay

City-Bay Fun Run Committee Inc. is a not-for-profit organisation whose prime objective is to raise funds to support Athletics in South Australia, assisting athletes and clubs within the athletics community in South Australia. Their annual event, the City-Bay Fun Run, holds an iconic space within South Australia’s culture and community calendar, and as the 2024 Fun Run approaches, the committee set themselves a bold target; 50,000 registrants to celebrate 50 years of running and philanthropy.

Super Studio were engaged to design a brand identity for City-Bay Fun Run, with the flexibility to incorporate a 50 years badge, to be removed from branding in subsequent years. Additional specifications included the need to integrate named sponsor logos harmoniously within a number of applications across the logo and website. Drawing inspiration from the iconic ‘diagonal’ route traversing Anzac Highway, an oblique configuration was applied to a simple, slanting typeface, positioned simply and cleanly alongside a triptych curved line symbol that allowed flexible reconfiguration across different brand applications and merchandise. A distinctive visual identity, complemented by a crisp, succinct brand positioning statement: ‘Fifty years and running’.

This project was shortlisted in the Brand Identity (small boutique) category at the Adelaide Advertising Design Club Awards 2024.
